Requiem for a Dream

Requiem: a song or hymn of mourning composed or performed as a memorial to a dead person

So Shaz and I watched "Requiem for a Dream" last night thanks to some serious nudging from my friend, Scheffler. Though I loved the camera techinques and angles, afterward seeing the film Shaz and I were very, very angry at the movie....and also grateful to have watched it.

This is NOT a movie I'd recommend for everyone, and it's not one I'd like to see multiple times. And though we each left at different times, none of us stayed in the room for the ENTIRE movie. Often one person would walk away for a scene and then return after it was finished.

Scheff reckons that once you see this movie you want to call every person you know that's on drugs and yell at them and tell them you love them and tell them never to do that **** no more.

"Requiem for a Dream" certainly woke me up.

Yeah I don't quite know what to make of this film... It is certainly well done. It is effective. It is really sick and twisted. In some ways I appreciate watching it and in other ways, I'm not so sure.

I didn't skip any scenes and I rather wish I had. On the upside, I'll never be doing drugs. Ever.
