Official Canadian "Stephen Colbert Day"

k, this is the most awesome thing ever.

OSHAWA, Ontario - After losing a hockey bet with Stephen Colbert, the mayor of Oshawa, John Gray, now must pay up — by declaring his own birthday, March 20, to be "Stephen Colbert Day" in his city, just east of Toronto.

For those of you who don't know Colbert, he's a mock newscaster on tv whose character is a die-hard Republican flaming Christian postmodern American. He hates facts and promises to "feel the news at you."

Yes, Shaz, according to Americans, he is funny. Actually, he's hilarious.

kris,
have you ever seen his stuff? i love it! he started out as a newscaster for the Daily Show with Jon Stewart---which has a similar mock news style, but with a newsman that isn't "in character" constantly. also very funny, definitely good to check out if you aren't in love with the shows already.

yeah, i've been familiar with both of them for a while. i loved colbert's rendition of why people in gitmo can never be released. very funny, but very insightful!

I think I just need to watch him a bit more ... for a while there, I thought he was being serious about everything he was saying ... none of which I agreed with ... so yeah, but now I realise he being a "mock" of the 'traditional' American, I can warm to him a bit more! :D
