Frustration in the Middle East

I'm mad.

I'm frustrated.

I just watched, "Iraq in Fragments" which is a semi-ok documentary which's only highlight in my opinion is that it helps you deferintiate and personalize slightly the three main religious groups in Iraq: Shiites, Sunni and Kurds.

I've been reading, "Night Draws Near" which is a journalist's view before, during and after the Americans went into Baghdad.

I read a story in the Wall Street Journal about how as much as the Sunni hate America, they hate Shiites more. Iraq is mainly split in two (60% Shiite, 40% Sunni approximately). However it seems like a lot of Iraqis and American government have similar interests if they just worked together.

Iraqi people want American soldiers out.
American people are tired of our brothers, husbands and sons being used as targets for a mission that is still clouded in deceit. We were lied to. We don't want to be in Iraq. They don't want us there either. If Shiites and Sunni thought for a moment and gave 30 days of peace where they weren't in the middle of civil war, we could leave. We could exit, saying that there is some stability to Iraq and isn't that what both sides want? Peace so that we can leave, with both parties bleeding, but alive.

That's the idea, but... who wants to admit that they were wrong first?

On a side note... I have now discovered your secret... diary/journal/blog place/spot/thing/ish/ness/age/whatever. How intriguing... ;) Well, I'm sure you'll have all kinds of fun with this one. Talk to ya later, Becky.

i had a disturbing thought the other day. If the americans pull out of this war, what will they put their energy into? I have a horrible feeling that the government would turn America into a police state in order to 'keep american's safe'.
