thankfully, i'm not too paniced. i did what i needed to do, and yeah i should do heaps more, but is that as it always is??
so i needed to add three spring break things:
1) i went to a newsboys/kutless/stellar concert! which rocked and the one or two new songs i heard them play from their newest cd sounds like U2. they did really well in having a performing rock concert atmosphere (minus the moshing)---big screens onstage, ticker tape sprayed into the audience with a strobe going and a good "drum-off" between the original newsies' drummer and the current one. one of the drumsets then went vertical as the drummer was playing it and his small stage began to spin. very cool. i wanted him to spin faster, but whatever. i'm sure concentrating on playing a set of drums to a beat while spinning vertically in the air can be a challenge....so we'll give it to him.

2) happy (be-lated) st. patty's day!! which was yesterday for me. yes, i wore green, even though i'm protestant.
3) i saw 300 last night...i thought graphically it looked amazing and the female lead, though a small role, looked like an intriguingly strong character. also i thought the plot might be a bit inspiring---at least better than the graphic designer's last film "Sin City."
It was heaps better than Sin City in that regard, but really not much of a plot other than a lot of leadership propaganda. It was told from a "retelling the legend" point of view, so you had a couple monster/giant soldiers and one guy with swords instead of hands, and heaps of inspiring voices talking about "freedom! justice!" and the sparitan way.
it shows the training of the young sparitans, which disturbed me, because as violent as it was, it's a lesser form of what's happening to children in Uganda right now. that, i think made me flinch the most.

so, not that anyone else but me cares....but i didn't get to see Phil Joel with Newsboys (tear). he quit three months ago to spend more time with his family and in reality his solo career, which is doing pretty good with his next album being released in June.
Hey, I'm proud that you recognized the "leadership propaganda" within 300. I did find it disturbing myself that they used "freedom" rhetoric with a celebration of warrior culture. Of course, the real Spartans were not interested in such rhetoric. Politics was for their old and worn out men and for effeminate Athenians. Spartans fought because there was one. My thirteen scents. :P
