So I just watched Invisible Children for the second time. I'm frustrated all over again. The first time I saw invisible children was April 2006. Just one year ago, but it feels like forever.
As a recap for those who don't know, Invisible Children is about the thousands of children in Uganda who are kidnapped, brutalized and brainwashed---creating a sick rebel army that mutilates and murders. The leader, Joseph Kony, has mixed his own cocktail of religion --including witchcraft and Christianity--so as to claim his fight is "for the Ten Commandments" (which say, "thou shalt not kill") and that he consults with the Holy Spirit. All of that is b.s. The man uses murder, rape and manipulation to mutilate a generation of children. There's nothing "Christ-like" about it.
It is said that in 1994 Kony began getting aid from Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir, the President of Sudan and one responsible for the Darfur crisis.
If you haven't seen "Invisible Children," please watch it. It's funny, moving and inspiring. Don't worry. You'll be upset, but not suicidal at the end of the documentary.
