Today's generation is aristocratic when dating — a person looks for a partner of equal intelligence, looks, talents, money and manners who will make a good match. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach advocates being a peasant — one person looking for a soulmate, where both people feel that they are "home," and complete, a full acceptance of the other person. He says to stop worshipping self-sufficiency and realize that there is a need that only the other person can fill.
