the political scene

U.S. Presidential Candidate Update:
Even after 22 states voted for their favorite Democratic nominee, there's no clear winner between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. However, John McCain seems the mostly likely contender for the Republicans.

BBC News has a very helpful map with the results, statics and a brief summary of each state's main concern help give a little more background.

Meanwhile in Italy

The Italalian Prime Minister Romano Prodi resigned last month (the Senate voted no confidence) and the Italian president has just dissolved parliament.

National elections are set for April 13-14.

Most are expecting Silvio Berlusconi to win the next election. The richest man in Italy and media mongrel, Berlusconi has ready served two terms as prime minister---one being the longest running Italian government (2001-2006) since World War II.

Berlusconi has also been tried 11 times for corruption charges (each time acquitted or the verdict overturned on appeal---except for a few of those cases that are still going on).
