And then there was...darkness?

One of the coolest things is happening today. Now. Possibly this minute (depending on when you're reading this...).

Sydney, Australia is leading 371 cities one of the most innovative ways to grab attention about global warming: turning out the lights all around the globe for one hour.

Beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Sydney, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House will have only the moonlight to illuminate them, major restaurants will turn off bulbs and light candles and skyscrapers will turn off their neon signs. Not only does this increase awareness about global warming and how we can respond, this campaign also encourages romance all across the world.

Begun last year in Sydney, this year 26 major cities are involved in "Earth Hour" including:
Aalborg, Aarhus, Adelaide, Atlanta, Bangkok, Brisbane, Canberra, Chicago, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Darwin, Dublin, Hobart, Manila, Melbourne, Montreal, Odense, Ottawa, Perth, Phoenix, San Francisco, Suva, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Toronto and Vancouver.

While only a symbol, symbols do have importance in reminding us of our decisions, our values and how to better put those ideas into practice...all across the globe, every hour of the day.
