Lara Logan: CBS News’ chief foreign affairs correspondent shows what journalism should be about. She's incredibly intelligent, passionate about straight-forward journalism and makes being a geek with a cause look incredibly cool.
I saw her on this clip with Jon Stewart and was prepared to hate her (look at her, she's gorgeous). But her down-to-earth manner and hard-hitting responses peaked my interest.
Then she gained my hero-like respect when I saw an interview of her by CNN in 2007, where she had to defend her exclusive report on how U.S. soldiers had come across and emaciated handicapped boys in Baghdad who had been stripped of clothing, tied to bedposts and starved nearly to death while the caretakers had stuffed the pantry with clothing and food. She was accused of everything from being the U.S. government's propaganda puppet to being manipulated by the terrorists, all because she was reporting the realities of what she saw.

It's unclear if she'll be CBS New's chief foreign affairs correspondent much longer, though she got the job just last month...however pregnancy complicates things. CBS says she's not going to be out of work [unless she wants to be], but her job responsibilities might change. After 17 years of reporting and four years being in Iraq, the Washington Post says the unexpected pregnancy came at a good time:
At CBS, Logan says, "they let me run around the world doing everything I want to do. It's a dream job, but it comes at a cost...Since 9/11, I've spent 95 percent of my time on the road, and I do need to have a home at some point. I do need to settle down. I've been living like a refugee."
Sounds like a true vagabond to me.
