my first ever banquet has been pulled off...as in it went well this last Saturday. really well thankfully. all i hear is good--which is amazing. there was plenty of food, 5-piece live jazz band, beautiful building, abbott and castello clip, chocolate fountain, 1920s theme with most people in fun costumes (boas, flapper dresses, and gansta hats everywhere!), and an old shiney mobster car. the car reaches 95 miles per hour in SECOND gear. wow. let me say that again. uh hem. WOW.
it was amazing because of course the day OF, everthing was going wrong, from trivia sheets unable to copy nicely to the store we needed being closed. of course.
but it's over. and it's done. and now i can truly focus on all the homework i have neglected for the past week. ikes. speaking of which it's 2:50 a.m.--WHY AM I AWAKE??
oh, and i did have a good time at the banquet. despite every five minutes or so being needed to solve another problem. :) and i had a date, an old friend who was visiting for the weekend, so that was rather nice. create some rumors apparently. he was an excellent date, opened all the doors, helped whatever i needed, got me lemonde, kept making sure i had fun between organizing everyone. it was great.
oh, and the cops came. or really one cop. or um, one very angry security guard with a patrol car. two guys had decided to jump on a moving train (the banquet was located in the old train station) that had to stop and let them off. freaked the guard out and he was ready to shut us down. thankfully i got our sponsor out and she talked with him, agreed with him about safety, calmed him down and promised we'd make sure no one else went out there to stop a train/get run over. (btw, no one was hurt). it all turned out ok and most people didn't even know he'd come.
my date wanted to approach the officer, but was told to wait. "I have a donut in my car, it'll be ok!" was his reply.
my response to the situation: hey, if the cops turn out at least once, we know it's a good party!
